Mark Setterland (also known, for some unknown reason, as Fuzz) and I have both been local Sonoma county music fans since the 1970s. Mark was a student at Granola U... oops, I mean Sonoma State College then, and a member of the first Hutchins school class. That's where he met my future wife, Janet, and that is how I eventually came to know him. I also lived in Sonoma county in the '70s. Kate Wolf was an integral part of the music scene here. She somehow captured the flavor of the times and the place in her songs. Kate died in 1986 of leukemia, leaving a great void for folk fans worldwide, and especially here in Sonoma.

When Mark and I heard that there would be a "Retrospective Concert" in Sebastopol, we were both eager to go. I had not seen some of these performers for many years, and it was a real treat to be able to see and hear them. This was a benefit concert for the Leukemia Society of America, and was held outside of Sebastopol at Caswell Vinyards.

If you are interested in Kate and her music, you should visit the Kate Wolf Home Page.

I had thought of working on an internet photo album like this for some time, and this seemed to be a good opportunity to try out some of my ideas. So Mark and I arrived early to stake out a spot close to the stage, and to set up my camera with a 400mm telephoto lens. I got about 50 photographs, and 22 of them are in this album.

The photos were scanned by the photolab, and I used Paint Shop Pro to further process the images, cropping, lightening, darkening, and retouching as needed.

I hope you enjoy this. If you have any information that I might include with these photographs, like the songs that go with the photos, please let me know, and I'll include them and credit you. Also, be sure to sign the guest book. Your notes will become a permanent part of this album.
